Soothers (also known as dummys or pacifiers) can help your child stay relaxed, sleep better and feel less anxiety when the mother is away. However, their prolonged use can interfere with the development of the mouth, jaw and teeth, unless a properly designed soother is used. Things to look for in a soother: ✅ Soft silicone to imitate the natural feel of a nipple. ✅ A flat tip that works well with the palate and prevents an open bite. ✅ A rounded shape that prevents misalignment of teeth: the front needs to be slightly arched, spreading the suction pressure over to the jawbone and not the teeth. ✅ A breathable design that promotes proper breathing through the nose, not the mouth. Soothers are developed in different sizes based on your child’s weight, so make sure you pick the right size for your baby. ❤With that in mind, we recommend Curaprox soothers that help promote proper jaw development.

What is interdental brushing? Between every two teeth in anyone’s mouth, there is an interdental space. It can be very small, or it can be easily visible, but it’s always there. Teeth are never perfectly straight; they are wider in the crown and thinner in the neck, so there is always some space between two touching teeth. Because the interdental space is inaccessible for a toothbrush, you can’t reach it with conventional brushing. As a result, bacteria accumulate in the interdental space and can remain undisturbed for a long time. Bacteria create toxic waste that weakens the enamel and irritates the gums, consequently causing tooth decay and periodontal disease. There is also a smell, which comes as a result of bacteria living and breeding between the teeth. To prevent these effects, we need to physically disrupt the bacterial colonies accumulating between our teeth. And for that, we need: ✅ a special kind of brush ✅ small enough to fit between our teeth ✅ soft enough to not damage the enamel and the gums ✅ but effective enough to clean out all bacterial residue with an in-and-out motion This is where an interdental brush comes in: it’s a specially designed brush that helps safely remove the plaque from interdental spaces.

How to destroy the plaque The only way to properly destroy the biofilm is physically disrupting its structure. You take a soft toothbrush and clean your teeth: two times a day, gently and thoroughly, front and back, until the teeth are clean. Rushing through the process won’t work: when you don’t brush properly, there’s a lot of biofilm left on the teeth, so bacteria have no problem rebuilding their colonies in the next few hours.

Is it OK to use mouthwash instead of brushing? No, and here is why First, we don’t need to kill off normal bacterial flora in our mouths. We just want to disrupt the biofilm to prevent tooth decay and gum disease. Second, mouthwashes do not penetrate the biofilm. You need mechanical action that is done with a toothbrush. Use a soft brush with high-density bristles. For interdental space, use interdental brushes.

The interdental space is the most vulnerable part of your teeth: it is susceptible to bacteria, and impossible to reach with regular brushing. Bacteria build up between your teeth and produce toxic waste, which erodes the enamel and irritates gums. Gum disease begins in the interdental spaces and spreads across gums. And all that starts with a little bacterial build-up between your teeth. The solution is simple: brush between your teeth. To enable that, we designed a specialised interdental brush – CURAPROX CPS.

How to treat your toothbrush in 3 simple steps: 👉 Replace your toothbrush every three months to avoid bent bristles and the accumulation of bacteria. 👉 Don’t apply too much pressure. A toothbrush often wears out too quickly as the result of applying too much pressure or having a poor cleaning technique. 👉 Replace your toothbrush immediately after an illness. After a common cold or any other infectious disease, it’s a good idea to just get a new one. If you don’t, the illness might return.
