Developing proper oral care habits for life. Your child learns from the things you do together. Give your child a leading example in proper oral hygiene habits, for their future adult life. Daily rituals. Skipping brushing is undesirable because children copy parent’s behavior. The rigid daily routines are imprinted in the habits carried through life. Regular dental check-ups. Make regular appointments with your dentist at least once a year, and have you child examined too. Your child needs to understand the importance of prevention over treatment. Proper diet. Try keeping sweets, chocolate, fruit juices and soda drinks to the minimum - also in your diet. Enjoy healthy foods and approach high-sugary content foods with caution and moderation.

Got braces? Here’s how to give them the best treatment. 👉 Use a soft brush: it is gentle to your teeth and gums which is especially important during orthodontic treatment. 👉 Clean between your teeth and under the wire : bacteria love this place. To clean out these spaces, use interdental brushes daily. 👉 Clean around the brackets of your braces: use a single toothbrush. This brush has a single tuft of bristles that are very soft and very dense, which is ideal for cleaning out the harder-to-reach areas. 👉 Use an ortho dental wax to protect your mouth from braces scratches. THREE FACTS ABOUT ACTIVATED CARBON TOOTHPASTE 1. Carbon is useful for its pores. It has so many pores that a tiny speck of charcoal has a surface area of several square centimetres – that’s a lot. 2. Thanks to these pores, carbon has good adsorption, so it mops up tiny particles such as food stains on teeth. 3. Activated carbon as a pure powder can be extremely abrasive to your teeth, thinning the enamel and making teeth more vulnerable and sensitive. To keep teeth white and safe, check the abrasiveness level of your toothpaste. Our tip: Get the full benefit of carbon teeth whitening with the professionally designed low-abrasive toothpaste “Black is White”.

Soft brush vs. hard brush ✅ A soft and dense brush nicely covers the entire tooth and removes dental plaque ❌ A hard brush combs the dental plaque, leaving traces behind ✅ A soft brush adjusts to and cleans difficult-to-reach places ❌ A hard brush has poorer reach due to rigid bristles ✅ A soft brush is delicate in delicate places – such as the gum line ❌ A hard brush scratches and reduces the gum line Choose softness.

What influences the natural colour of your teeth? Your teeth are composed of mineralized tissues. They are similar to bone, but are not really bone. The main tissues are dentin and enamel, and the colour of your teeth is a mix of the shades of these two main components. Dentin is the main component of a tooth and has a brownish-yellow hue. Enamel covers the dentin, and is one of the hardest materials found in nature. It has a whiter and slightly blueish hue, but it’s also semi-translucent and quite thin. So the colour of your teeth is ultimately down to three things: the colour of your dentin and both how thick, and how stained, your enamel is.

Should parents finish brushing after their children?(Yes!) “I strongly support parents helping to brush their children’s teeth all the way until the children are eight years old. A small child won’t be able to properly brush and clean out all the germs at an early age – at least, it’s very challenging. I explain to them that at 4 years old their child is unable to follow all the steps to good cleaning. Here is what I do: I show both the parents and the child the places loaded with plaque. I make them understand that this can be avoided if they do it together, as a team. I present the brushing techniques to both parents and children so the small ones know and practise, but the parents should definitely finish it.” Silvia Per, paediatric dentist and PhD candidate in Bucharest --- Est-ce que les parents devraient aider les enfants à brosser leurs dents? (Oui!)

Three reasons to consider interdental brushes in your daily brushing ritual: 👉 Everyone has interdental space: if you have two teeth next to one another, you have interdental space. That’s where bacteria build their colonies. 👉Conventional brushing doesn’t reach interdental space, which leaves the bacterial colonies between your teeth untouched, so they can breed and produce bacterial waste. This waste causes caries, gum inflammation and bad breath. 👉 Dental floss doesn’t reach where it’s supposed to: if there are uneven dental spaces, the floss will do nothing to the bacteria inside such space, and the bacteria will keep breeding. Consider trying interdental brushes: they're a safer and more effective way to protect your teeth from dental plaque.
